Mellon Charles Trip

Many thanks to members for turning out in such large numbers for our trip out west last Saturday and we are very grateful to our hosts at Aultguish and Mellon Charles for making us so welcome. The weather after a sketchy beginning improved greatly as we proceeded further west and we reached our destination in glorious sunshine so those cars with hoods had them all down!

We think most members took the longer route back home via Gairloch and were rewarded with a stunning drive along perfect roads with glorious scenery, who could ask for more!

The winners of the scratch card raffles we ran were Ian MacHardy – bottle of malt whisky and Jim Gilzean – polo shirt and beanie hat both with embroidered club logos.

Many members contacted us to say thank you and we think everyone had a wonderful day out and it was nice to see the cars given a run out after the long winter shut down.

Winter Update

Hi there, hope everyone is safe and well just a little update to let everyone know that everything for our trip in May to the Jim Clark museum and to the aero museum at East Fortune is still going ahead as planned unless anything changes due to the current circumstances. The trip will also include a lunch stop in fife on our way south. We will also be trying to fit in a couple of smaller trips in April/May to blow the cobwebs off our cars. The plan is to then arrange regular trips throughout the summer until October.

Sunday 25th October trip to Elgin

The proposed trip to take in a Distillery tour will have to be postponed till 2021 as the restrictions due to the coronavirus situation means that such a tour is impossible. So the final formal outdoor trip for the Club before the winter sets in will take place on Sunday 25th Oct with a visit to the Moray Motor Museum in Elgin who operate a one way system through their display observing the distance rules-(please remember to take your face masks), The Museum are looking forward to our visit and on this occasion the Club will be paying for our entry fees to the exhibition to all paid up members.

For all Beauly Sports Car Club members please let us know as soon as possible that you are able to join us on the day.

Falls of Shin and Ullapool Trip

We were very pleased that there was such a large and varied turn-out for our trip to the Falls of Shin and Ullapool on the 27th Sept. Again we did the trip in glorious weather and the coffee and home baking at the Falls of Shin was exceptional and they were very pleased that we paid them a call. The route to Ledmore and Ullapool on a lovely scenic route was appreciated by all and a good fish based lunch at Ullapool was enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to all of you who made the trip.

Planned trip to Falls of Shin and Ullapool Sunday 27th September 2020

The Club’s 3rd trip will take place on Sunday 27th Sept 2020 and the cars will leave Braeview Car Park to the Falls of Shin where we will have a coffee/tea break.

On leaving there head to Ullapool where we will have a lunch stop and then return home.

This trip is a little shorter than the previous trips as the daylight hours are getting less at this time of year.

Don’t forget the face masks and indicate as soon as possible that you are coming by contact through the website or by contacting Gil or James.

Hope we will get a nice day!!

Alford Trip

Many thanks to all the members who took part in the Club’s second outing to the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford in mainly fine weather by way of the wonderful route past Tomintoul, the Lecht and Strathdon and on to Alford. We were treated very well at the Museum and all were very impressed with the wonderful display of all forms of transport. We were very pleased that Mike Leslie who looks after our Club website came with us as a passenger and took some memorable pictures of our cars at Alford and which appeared promptly on our website.

We are now working on our next trip towards the end of September – keep checking the details on the website.

Planned Trip to Alford 29th August 2020

The Club’s next trip is a visit to the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford on Sat 29th August where we are due at 12 noon and we require members to let us know as soon as possible that you are going. This request is more urgent than for our first trip.

We leave Braeview Park, Beauly at 9.00am and those members who wish to have their cars washed Darren Bain of Vital Valeting one of our sponsors will be available from 8am onwards to wash only £8, wash and dry £10 representing a good saving on normal prices. If you would like to book Darren to wash your car please do so with him directly before the trip (07557 517536). There will be a stopover in the Square in Tomintoul for coffee and biscuits supplied by the club. The entrance fee to the Transport Museum is £11 for adults, £4 for children, £9 for concessions.

Applecross Trip

We are very grateful for the large turnout of members and friends who took part in the Club’s inaugural trip to Applecross on Sat 2nd August. The weather was mainly fair and the hoods stayed mainly down for the whole trip and it proved very enjoyable and gave the members a chance to get to know each other. We were very sorry that Michael McHardy had to call off at the last moment with a raging tooth abscess that necessitated a visit to hospital and he returned home late afternoon—hope you recover well soon Mike!

Applecross Inn treated us well and although we arrived early even after a stop at Lochcarron they took our orders promptly and gave us a hearty lunch and later in the day Gil received a text message from them saying how much they enjoyed our visit and hoped we would return again.

The party then left for Shieldaig on the coastal scenic route and we had a stopover to take some photos of the party with a stunning backdrop of wonderful coastal scenery—I am afraid my camera misbehaved and pictures are blurred so please members if you have some good images would you please e-mail them to us (HERE) so that they can feature on our club website.

Gil and I took up the rear on the trail to Shieldaig and I had an elderly moment at the T junction when I turned right instead of left into Shieldaig thinking I was missing out the village and going straight to Kinlochewe when in fact we were on the main road back to Lochcarron! Anyone willing to take on the navigator’s role on future trips? However we did meet and stop to briefly chat to John Parker who had left the main party at Achnasheen to return to his home at Achintraid, Kishorn. It was very good of him to travel to Beauly necessitating a very early start to travel with the Club in his stunning Lotus Evora.

I have some orders confirmed from members from the catalogue but we would be grateful if you would scan the items for sale on the website and indicate size and colour required and make your orders in this coming week so we can make a bulk order.

Roll on the next trip.
